Ecological footprint / life cycle analysis

Ecological Footprint, Life Cycle Analysis and other FMCG Sustainability Institute impact mapping services such as input-output analysis and supply chain management are provided with FMCG-specific know how.

Ecological Footprint is a resource management tool that measures how much land and water area a human population requires to produce the resources it consumes and to absorb its wastes under prevailing technology. By measuring the Ecological Footprint of a population (an individual, a corporation, a city, a nation, or all of humanity) we can assess our overshoot, which helps us manage our ecological assets more carefully. Ecological Footprints enable people to take personal and collective actions in support of a world where humanity lives within the means of one planet.

Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), also called Life Cycle Assessment, is the end-to-end analysis of the real environmental impact of a product or service. It quantifies the environmental impacts at every stage from raw material production, manufacture, logistics and transport, use and disposal.

One important function of LCAs is to provide a basis for comparison between sets of available alternatives, to determine the optimum end-to-end process from an environmental perspective.

Our Life Cycle Assessments are carried out to ISO 14040[1] and 14044[2] standards and we bring strong FMCG industry experience to the process.
